B-1 / B-2 Visitor Visa

For temporary business and tourist visitors to the United States.

About this visa

B-1 and B-2 classifications cover eligible temporary business visits and visits for tourism, family or other permitted purposes. B-1 may support activities such as business meetings or contract negotiations; B-2 generally covers personal visits and tourism.

Applicants must establish a permitted temporary purpose and satisfy the relevant eligibility requirements. Visitor status generally does not authorize U.S. employment or a full course of academic study. A visa's expiration date differs from the period of stay granted on admission, which must be checked separately.
