F-1 Student Visa

For international students in academic programs in the United States.

About this visa

F-1 classification is used for eligible academic study at an approved U.S. institution. The student must obtain the required Form I-20 from the school and satisfy the applicable academic, financial and temporary-intent requirements.

It suits students pursuing an eligible course of study who need help with a visa application or an available change of status. School admission does not by itself establish visa eligibility. Students must also understand enrollment, employment, travel and status-maintenance rules throughout their studies.
