L-1A Intracompany Manager

For managers and executives transferred to a U.S. office of the same company.

About this visa

L-1A classification lets a qualifying international organization transfer an executive or manager to a related U.S. operation — including, under additional requirements, to establish a new U.S. office.

The organization must show a qualifying corporate relationship and the required business activity in the U.S. and abroad. The employee generally must have completed one continuous year of qualifying employment abroad within the relevant three-year period. Evidence must establish the substance of the U.S. managerial or executive role, not a senior title.
